Lastly, in honor of National Bullying Prevention Month, MTV is raising cash for GLAAD, GLSEN, GSA Network, HRC, The It Gets Better Project, and the Trevor Project. The MTV O Music Awards will hold a 24-hour dance party that will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Team Dance Marathon. The marathon will kick off at 9:20 PST on October 30, and you can watch live at OMusicAwards.com. To donate under the name of Tokio Hotel and their fans, click here, scroll down and donate! The MTV Video Music Awards Japan will take place on the 25th of June, this year. The event has been renamed to MTV Video Music Aid Japan because of the tsunami and earthquake disaster. Any proceeds made at the award show will go to the Japanese Red Cross.

“Darkside of the Sun” is nominated under “Best Rock Video.” You can vote several times a day!

We also think it would be great if you could vote in every category, because MTV Japan will donate 10 Yen to the Japanese Red Cross for every vote made! 

This date has been added to our calendar, our events box and our important news box at the top of the page!

There’s no word on whether or not that band will be attending the award show, though there have been rumours that they will be in Japan in June. We’ll let you know all the details as soon as we find out!

Merveilleuse Nouvelle! Tokio Hotel va performer aux VMA’s au Japon! La cérémonie sera diffusée dans l’Asie entière le 25 Juin, mais les Canadiens devraient pouvoir l’écouter s’ils ont MTV2 (Cliquez ici pour les détails). Ce sera diffusé sur la chaîne comme présentation spéciale d’une heure, tout comme les MTV World Stage. Nous ne savons pas quand ce sera diffusé, mais si vous n’avez pas MTV2, ne vous inquiétez pas! Nous vous tiendrons au courant. En espérant qu’il y aura un diffusion en ligne le 25 Juin, sinon, vous pourrez tout de même voir des vidéos de la performance sur le site par la suite.

Les MTV Video Music Awards Japan prendront place le 25 Juin. L’événement a été renommé MTV Video Music Aid Japan en raison du désastre avec le tsunami et les tremblements de terre. Les profits faits par la cérémonie iront à la croix rouge japonaise.

«Darkside of the Sun» est nominée dans la catégorie «Meilleure vidéo rock». Vous pouvez voter plusieurs fois par jour!

Ce serait bien de voter également dans les autres catégories, puisque MTV Japan feront un don de 10 Yen à la croix rouge japonaise pour chaque vote fait!

Bill, Tom, Gustav & Georg took home one of the prestigious MTV Europe Music Awards in the category “Best World Stage Performance”….the guys are the ONLY European band that was able to score at this year’s MTV award ceremony! Award at the “MTV Europe Music Awards” : Tokio Hotel save Europe’s honour/ Prix aux “MTV Europe Music Awards” : Tokio Hotel ont sauvé l’honneur de l’Europe.

At an award show, which is called “Europe Music Awards”, you could assume that it’s European acts who take home prizes – but not at all! There was only one winner from Europe at the MTV-award-show 2010, and their name is Tokio Hotel. In the category “Best World Stage Performance” [best performance in the MTV Show "MTV World Stage"] the four boys from Magdeburg prevailed over – and this is something you can be really proud of – US-stars like pop-chick Katy Perry and the rockers from Green Day. They could just save the pop-honour of their continent with that!

BUT, EUROPE: WHERE ARE YOUR SUPERSTARS?

Apart from the Tokio Hotel boys, the awards were dominated exclusively by American artists. While some European acts were nominated; Soul rapper Plan B, the British rockers Muse and Gorillaz, for example. However, the local artists couldn’t inflame the fans to vote: the majority of the 46 million votes made by MTV viewers were for U.S. artists.

The mega star of the MTV European audiences: Lady Gaga. The U.S. singer triumphed on Sunday evening with three MTV awards. The viewers of music channel chose the 24-year-old as “Best single” and “Best pop star”, with her hit “Bad Romance” winning Best song. Katy Perry reaped with their clip for “California Gurls” the award in the category “Best Video”.

The remaining prizes were divided between the Canadian teen hearthrob Justin Bieber and acts like Linkin Park ["Best Live Act"], Thirty Seconds to Mars ["Best Rock"] and Paramore ["Best Alternative"]. Eminem secured the prize for Best Hip-hop artist, while 23 year old Ke$ha can now call herself the Best Newcomer.
